ENGLISH SYNOPSIS :
This film, ‘Home is Wherever We Are Together’, tells the true story of Rachel and her family – a family with a critically ill child in Hong Kong that has been aided by Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). But instead of telling the story from Rachel’s (the critically ill child) point of view, the film instead explores the emotional impact that this situation puts on the family through the perspective of Rachel’s younger brother. The loneliness and neglect that the younger brother faces as his parents focus on Rachel’s medical needs gets the whole family to realize the importance of togetherness as a family, and it is ultimately where RMHC steps in, providing a ‘home away from home’ for them to stick together as Rachel recovers.

ENGLISH CONTEXT EXPLANATION :
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) provides a ‘home away from home’ for families with critically ill children to stick together during the recovery journey. While people in Hong Kong may have heard of RMHC or have seen its donation boxes inside McDonald’s restaurants, most do not have a clear idea of what RMHC does and why. This emotional short film seeks to deepen the public’s understanding of RMHC’s mission and purpose by telling a real-life story of a family impacted by RMHC. While the sick child is typically the focus of such stories, RMHC’s insight recognizes that when a child is critically ill, all members of the family are negatively impacted, even healthy siblings.
