  • ENGLISH SYNOPSIS :
One night, in a nearly closing bakery, an elderly couple, the seasoned owners of the establishment who have weathered 40 years together, plan to reach an agreement on the divorce settlement that has been lingering for over half a year.
Simultaneously, they intend to split a vintage bread table, which has been a witness to their journey from the inception of their business till now, holding all their shared memories. For this purpose, they have purchased a massive two-person crosscut saw, intending to cut the table in two this very night.
At the same time, they also plan to openly express the emotions that have been concealed in their hearts throughout their four decades together. Emotions that have remained unspoken.
  • ENGLISH CONTEXT EXPLANATION :
In our grandparents' era, marriages were predominantly arranged,
with unfamiliar individuals tying the knot solely through their families. Unfortunately, many resulting unions lacked happiness.
This generation often neglects communication. Lacking an emotional foundation, couples made do for the sake of children or family, navigating both life’s trivial and significant matters without having extensive verbal dialogue with each other.
The title's 'push-pull' metaphor captures individuals stuck in
an entangled state. This is reflected in the short film through a symbolic two-person saw; If one side doesn't initiate movement, the other remains immobile. Willingness to move the saw (or engage in conversation) breaks free from stagnation, akin to the characters opening up in the film.
Every film detail underscores the inherent differences between the characters, from aurally harmonious lyrics lacking true interaction, to one wearing a wedding ring while the other removes it, emphasizing their four decade long game of tug-of-war.
