  • CAMPAIGN SUMMARY :
Knockout Chaos is a promotional film created to stir up excitement among fans for the highly anticipated boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou. It’s a significant moment in boxing, as Joshua was poised for a comeback and Ngannou transitioning from MMA.
Breaking away from conventional fight promos, our film takes a more cinematic approach, blending meticulously crafted visuals with engaging storytelling. With both fighters hailing from different combat sports and known for their powerful punches, impressive knockout records, and relentless action in the ring, the matchup feels like a real-life combat sports video game—a showdown of Player-1 vs Player-2, battling for the ultimate knockout. The result is Knockout Chaos. The film takes audiences on an electrifying journey through iconic global cities, capturing the vibrant energy of the 1980s, while seamlessly transitioning between the real world and the pixelated universe of arcade combat games from that era.
  • CREATIVITY/IDEA/INSIGHT :
The outcome – Knockout Chaos. The result of putting the best fighters from different combat genres in one ring. This event featuring two heavyweight power punchers, both known for their knockout records and chaos they bring inside the ring, felt just like a real-life combat sports video game of the 90’s. Where you select Player 1 and Player 2, with the sole aim of KO’ing the opponent. By tapping into this golden era of gaming with these two larger than life characters, we sparked a wave of nostalgia among our audience, as the two fighters sparked chaos every where they landed.
  • STRATEGY :
Boxing has been declining in popularity around the world with big fights coming in far and few. Moreover, big fighters want to protect their belt and record and don’t make it easy for challengers. Our strategy is to make boxing synonymous with Riyadh Season and make Saudi Arabia the top global destination for boxing by making these big fights between champions happen. And to generate even more excitement for the sport, promote crossover fights like the one between Joshua and Ngannou.

We realised that younger generations are more drawn to other new combat sports (like UFC and MMA). What they also engage in, and have been for a long time, are combat-style arcade and video games. In order to appeal to different generations, we wanted to tap into this trend of Gen X’s and Millennials. While also showcasing the best of that era to Gen Z’s and Alphas.
  • EXECUTION :
The film opens in bustling New York City. Ngannou walking through the gridlocked traffic receives a call from his agent confirming the fight with Joshua. Just then he gets shoulder barged by a bloke in a hoodie. Turns out it’s AJ himself. The crowd picks up on the tension and spurs them on to fight in the middle of the street. The film then sees both these heavyweights knock each other senseless with their trademark power punches, sending one another other flying across different global destinations, all while seamlessly transitioning between the real and 16-bit world. From New York to Mexico and Japan, the film finally reaches its exhilarating climax in Riyadh at Friday’s fight night at the Kingdom Arena, where both fighters unleash a devastating punch knocking each other out on the canvas. As the simulation comes to an end.
  • RESULT :
Within the first week, the film amassed over 76 million views, garnered 2.1 billion potential impressions, and achieved an overwhelmingly positive sentiment of 98%. Most importantly, it played a key role in driving ticket sales, leading to a complete sellout.
